Good news for some: Framework swims against the tide of the RAMpocalypse by ‘retroactively reducing’ its LPCAMM2 prices

Framework, a manufacturer of modular laptops, announced price reductions on LPCAMM2 memory modules, offering rare good news amid the ongoing memory supply crisis dubbed the “RAMpocalypse.”

The company stated it successfully sourced a limited quantity of LPCAMM2 memory at lower costs and is retroactively reducing prices for orders that have already shipped at higher rates. Existing customers can apply for refunds reflecting the price difference. Additionally, Framework is offering the new lower pricing for all future orders through Batch 10.

This move represents a notable exception to industry trends during the memory supply shortage, which has driven component prices higher across manufacturers and retailers. By retroactively adjusting prices and enabling refunds, Framework demonstrates customer-focused pricing practices in a market typically constrained by supply limitations and elevated costs.

While the available quantity of discounted memory is limited, the announcement signals Framework’s attempt to provide value during challenging supply chain conditions. The gesture could influence how other manufacturers approach pricing transparency and customer relations during component shortages.
