Michael Mann Recuts Miami Vice for October Beyond Fest World Premiere

Director Michael Mann is releasing a newly recut version of his 2006 film Miami Vice, titled Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut. The film will premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on October 3, 2026, with Mann participating in a post-screening Q&A.

This latest revision will be presented in 4K, marking another evolution of the crime thriller two decades after its original theatrical release. The new cut differs from the Miami Vice: Unrated Director’s Edition released on Blu-ray in 2008, which already featured additional scenes and re-editing compared to the theatrical version. The specific runtime of Mann’s latest cut has not yet been disclosed.

The Beyond Fest premiere represents a rare opportunity to see an established director’s continued refinement of a major studio film over many years. The screening will allow audiences to experience Mann’s latest creative vision, with the subsequent Q&A providing insight into the recutting process and directorial decisions.

Miami Vice, based on the iconic 1980s television series and starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, received mixed reviews upon its 2006 release but has since developed a stronger reputation. Mann’s decision to revisit and re-edit the film again demonstrates his ongoing investment in the material and his pursuit of artistic refinement throughout his career.
