Nintendo Confirms Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition
Nintendo has announced Pikmin 4: Switch 2 Edition, launching November 12, marking the first substantial content update for the acclaimed real-time strategy game since its July 2023 debut on the original Switch.
The Switch 2 Edition introduces “Dandori Academy,” a new time-trial mode centered on completing treasure hunts and achieving high scores. The mode offers three difficulty levels and 72 stages rolling out over time, with weekly challenges available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Players can compete by viewing and comparing each other’s scores on a leaderboard.
Beyond the new mode, the edition features enhanced graphics optimized for Switch 2 hardware and new voice command functionality, allowing players to communicate and control Oatchi, a companion character, through voice inputs.
Pikmin 4’s original 2023 release received widespread critical and fan acclaim, establishing itself as a marquee title on the Switch platform. Notably, it never received meaningful post-launch content support until now. The Switch 2 Edition represents both a technical upgrade and substantial content expansion, finally delivering the long-awaited enhancement many fans had anticipated.
