Now You Can Play Star Fox Adventures On Switch 2 And Decide If It’s Terrible Or Great Yourself
Star Fox Adventures, a 2002 GameCube title developed by Rare, is now available on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack following its announcement at the September 2026 Nintendo Direct. The action-adventure game represents a significant departure from the dog-fighting gameplay the Star Fox series is traditionally known for, earning it a reputation as the franchise’s “black sheep.”
The game’s development history is notable: it originally began as Dinosaur Planet, a standalone N64 title, before Shigeru Miyamoto proposed reimagining it as a Star Fox game. This conversion resulted in a Zelda-like action-adventure experience that blended the Star Fox universe with puzzle-solving and exploration elements.
With this addition to the Nintendo Classic collection, the total number of GameCube games available on Switch 2 has reached 11. The release offers both longtime fans and new players the opportunity to experience one of the series’ most unconventional entries.
