Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4 spoilers may have emerged online amid massive achievements leak for unreleased games

A significant data leak has exposed achievement lists for hundreds of unreleased and unannounced games on Steam. The leak occurred overnight when achievement tracking websites Exophase and SteamDB scraped achievement data that should have remained private, making it publicly available across the internet.

According to reports, the incident was caused by a maintenance bug on Valve’s end. After Steam’s weekly maintenance window, the Steam API inadvertently granted access to achievement data for games still in development. Achievement tracking sites automatically collected this information, resulting in the public exposure of numerous titles and their associated achievements.

The leak revealed achievements for several highly anticipated upcoming games, including Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, Fable, Control Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Some of the leaked achievements contained story spoilers—Kingdom Hearts 4 achievements hinted at unannounced worlds including Star Wars, while Persona 6’s achievements revealed plot points for the unreleased JRPG.

The leak also confirmed the existence of previously unannounced or cancelled titles, including Thief: The Dark Project Remastered and Stranger Than Heaven. Exophase owner Mike Bendel confirmed the leak was due to Valve’s error, not a security breach on the achievement tracking sites themselves. The sites were simply performing their normal function of scraping publicly accessible achievement data through Steam’s API, which had been mistakenly exposed to include unreleased titles.
