The next game by the creators of Steins;Gate is an entirely vibe-coded FPS slopfest

Mages Inc, the Japanese studio known for the Steins;Gate visual novel series, is venturing outside its usual genre with Juggernaut, an upcoming free-to-play boomer shooter. The game follows the retro-FPS template of classic Wolfenstein-era titles, tasking players with battling waves of zombies across flat, pixelated arenas in a distinctly nostalgic style.

While the core game is free-to-play, Mages Inc plans to monetize through the Juggernaut Assets Maker, a paid tool enabling players to create custom levels and import their own assets. The Steam page humorously encourages customization with taglines like “Make it more Japanese” and “Make it sexier,” suggesting a playful approach to community-driven content creation.

This represents a significant departure for Mages Inc, which has primarily specialized in visual novels and narrative-driven experiences. The studio has previously worked on the Corpse Party series, demonstrating some willingness to experiment beyond its core expertise, though Juggernaut marks its most ambitious venture into the competitive retro-shooter space.
