Riot Suspends Tatu From CBLOL Playoff Series Following STEPZ Incident
Riot Games has suspended Brazilian League of Legends professional player Pedro ‘Tatu’ Seixas from the CBLOL (Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends) Playoffs following an on-stage confrontation during the competition. The incident occurred when Tatu, jungler for esports organization FURIA, engaged in heated trash talk and walked across the stage to confront RED Canids jungler Eloy ‘STEPZ’ Rodríguez. The confrontation was triggered by STEPZ allegedly directing insulting remarks at Tatu, calling him a dog and using additional profanity.
As a result of the incident, Riot Games issued a suspension preventing Tatu from competing in the Upper Bracket semi-finals against Los, along with a monetary fine of R$15,000 (approximately $3,000 USD). In an official statement, Riot and the CBLOL described the behavior as inconsistent with professional standards and noted that it constitutes a repeat violation of the organization’s regulations and the Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct. The action underscores the ongoing efforts by esports governing bodies to maintain professional conduct standards at competitive events, even as trash talk remains a common element of esports culture.
