Final Fantasy 7 Revelation: Our Big Interview with Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Battle Director Teruki Endo
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding installment of Square Enix’s acclaimed remake trilogy, has been officially announced for release on April 8, 2027. The game will complete the saga that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020 and continued with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Battle Director Teruki Endo are leading development of the finale, which aims to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the remixed retelling of one of gaming’s most beloved titles. The game will feature an expanded scope compared to its predecessor, with planetary-level exploration allowing players to traverse the entire planet.
Revelation introduces new gameplay mechanics, including a parachuting system inspired by games like Fortnite. According to Hamaguchi, the developers incorporated parachuting early in development with the concept of “the party parachuting down from the Highwind.” The inclusion of such mechanics reflects the development team’s goal to expand the game’s scale and features with each installment of the trilogy.
