Professor Layton and the Curious Village Remake Announced, Coming to Multiple Platforms in 2027

Level-5 has announced a remake of Professor Layton and the Curious Village during its Vision 2026 Showcase. The reimagined version of the classic puzzle game will launch in 2027 across Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC via Steam, and PlayStation 5.

The remake features significant visual enhancements, with characters redesigned as 3D models. The village of St. Mystere has been reconstructed with greater environmental depth and richer detail to create a more immersive experience. The game’s animated cutscenes have been upgraded with higher resolution and widescreen formatting.

This announcement reflects Level-5’s broader efforts to bring the Professor Layton franchise to new platforms and audiences. The remake’s PlayStation release represents the series’ entry onto the platform, following the December 2026 launch of Professor Layton and the New World of Steam on PS5, which will mark the franchise’s PlayStation debut.

The original Professor Layton and the Curious Village debuted on Nintendo DS in 2007 in Japan and 2008 internationally, establishing one of Nintendo’s most successful and beloved puzzle adventure franchises. This multi-platform remake demonstrates the continued commercial appeal of the franchise and the industry trend of remastering classic titles for contemporary hardware.
