Nintendo Finally Adds Some Life To The Switch 2

Nintendo released version 23.0.0 for the Switch 2, introducing music to the Mii Maker menu—a notable addition to a platform characterized by silence in its menus and eShop interface. The update restores the iconic Mii Channel music from the original Wii, providing a nostalgic callback for longtime fans.

When creating a Mii character in the Switch 2’s system settings, players will now hear the familiar Wii Mii Channel soundtrack in the background. A music settings button allows customization between three tracks: the Wii version, 3DS Mii Maker music, and Wii U variant, generically listed as “Track 1,” “Track 2,” and “Track 3.”

The update responds to feedback from Nintendo fans who have expressed concern that both Switch consoles lack the personality and character present in the company’s earlier platforms. The sparse, silent design has been viewed as a departure from Nintendo’s historical approach to interface design, which featured charming music and visual themes.

While limited in scope—affecting only one menu feature—the addition of Mii Maker music represents a symbolic step toward reintroducing personality into the Switch 2’s interface.
