Kingdom Hearts 4 Is Being Developed by FF7 Remake Studio
Square Enix’s Creative Studio 1, led by Naoki Hamaguchi, is developing Kingdom Hearts 4. The announcement confirms the studio’s next major project following its work on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, scheduled for 2027, will serve as the trilogy’s conclusion. Kingdom Hearts 4 is also targeted for a 2027 release, indicating both projects may launch in the same year.
Hamaguchi has previously stated his intention to move to another major RPG project after completing the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy, and Kingdom Hearts 4 represents that next endeavor. This marks a significant shift for the studio, which has dedicated considerable resources to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. The Kingdom Hearts franchise, spanning multiple games and platforms, offers a fresh creative direction while maintaining Square Enix’s focus on large-scale RPG development. Both projects demonstrate the studio’s ambition to simultaneously manage major franchise titles, positioning Hamaguchi and Creative Studio 1 as central to Square Enix’s RPG portfolio moving forward.
