Point Break TV Show Gets the Green Light at AMC
AMC has greenlit a Point Break television series based on the 1991 action classic starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Co-produced by AMC Studios and StudioCanal, the project has received a series order for eight episodes, with production scheduled to begin in early 2027.
Set more than three decades after the original film, the series introduces a new heist crew inspired by the iconic Ex-Presidents—the master thieves from the original movie. The narrative follows the FBI’s recruitment of a mysterious ex-professional surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate this emerging criminal organization.
The adaptation is being developed by producers Dave Kalstein (Butterfly) and Christopher Sugar, bringing established creative talent to the project. This marks AMC’s latest effort to revive legacy intellectual property for contemporary audiences through its television and streaming platforms.
The greenlight reflects the enduring appeal of the Point Break franchise, which has maintained cult status since its theatrical release. With production commencing in early 2027, the series is expected to premiere on AMC and AMC+ sometime in 2027 or 2028, continuing the network’s strategy of leveraging established films for episodic storytelling.
