Polyarc, Dev Behind the Critically Acclaimed Moss Series, Is Shutting Down

Polyarc Games, the Seattle-based developer behind the critically acclaimed Moss franchise, has announced it is closing effective September 11, 2026, after 12 years of operation.

The studio made the announcement via LinkedIn, stating: “After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other.” The company declared that “our work is now finished,” suggesting a planned closure rather than one driven by financial distress.

Polyarc is best known for creating the Moss series, a critically acclaimed virtual reality franchise that debuted with the original Moss and continued with Moss: Book II. The games were originally developed as VR experiences for PlayStation VR and PSVR2 platforms, though the franchise also received traditional non-VR releases.

In a notably supportive move, Polyarc has provided a spreadsheet containing contact information for its developers to help them secure positions at other studios. The closure marks the end of an era for a developer that became synonymous with high-quality VR gaming and helped establish the Moss franchise as a defining experience on PlayStation’s VR platforms.
