Starfinder: Afterlight, a CRPG based on one of my favourite systems that pulled in almost $1 million on Kickstarter, is starting to look ship-shape
Starfinder: Afterlight, a computer role-playing game (CRPG) based on the Starfinder 2e tabletop system, has successfully concluded its Kickstarter campaign, raising approximately $960,000 (€828,164)—more than eleven times its modest €75,000 funding goal. The overwhelming success demonstrates significant community enthusiasm for bringing the Starfinder ruleset to the digital space.
The project has attracted notable industry talent, including Roger Clark, the actor best known for voicing the protagonist Arthur Morgan in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. Clark will serve as the narrator for Afterlight, lending his distinctive voice to guide players through the game. Additional professional voice direction has been secured, indicating a commitment to high production quality across the audio design.
Starfinder: Afterlight has garnered particular attention within the CRPG community, especially among fans of Pathfinder 2e, since Starfinder 2e shares many fundamental mechanics with its fantasy counterpart. This shared rules foundation appeals to an established audience already familiar with the system’s mechanics and complexity.
The combination of substantial crowdfunding success, recognizable voice talent, and proven tabletop IP suggests the development team possesses the financial and creative resources to realize an ambitious vision. The project represents a growing trend of translating popular tabletop RPG systems into digital formats, offering players new ways to experience established game worlds and mechanics.
