Diablo 4’s new season brings back Deckard Cain and all three Prime Evils as the game arrives on Switch 2
Diablo 4’s upcoming “Season of Hell’s Legacy” launches on September 15th, marking both the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration and the game’s debut on Nintendo Switch 2. Blizzard announced the season at BlizzCon’s opening ceremony as a tribute to three decades of Diablo gaming history.
The new season centers on the return of Deckard Cain’s spirit, who warns players that echoes of the three original Prime Evils have resurfaced. Players will face rematches against Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto in locations familiar to long-time series fans: Tristram Cathedral, Arreat Summit, and the Durance of Hate. Defeating each Prime Evil grants players a Soul Splinter.
This release represents a nostalgic tribute for Diablo 4, leveraging the franchise’s legendary legacy while expanding the game’s reach to Nintendo’s latest hardware. The Season of Hell’s Legacy serves as a 30-year retrospective wrapped in a playable seasonal experience, marking Diablo 4’s first appearance on Switch 2.
