The World of Warcraft “Classic+” rumours were true and it’s called World of Warcraft: Forever
Blizzard has officially unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever, confirming long-standing rumors about a “Classic+” experience for the MMO. The game launches globally on November 4, 2026, with beta access beginning September 17, 2026.
Forever remains rooted in World of Warcraft’s first year while drawing from later expansions to improve the overall experience and reduce grinding compared to the original Classic. Key design changes include optional transmog systems, improved item mechanics, revised class balance with new talent trees, and no separate realms to streamline player experience across regions. The game introduces a new playable race, enhanced character customization, and visual upgrades to modernize the classic aesthetic.
Technical improvements include alpha testing of controller support, suggesting expanded accessibility options. The development team emphasized that these refinements aim to make the classic WoW experience significantly smoother while maintaining its core appeal. New matchmaking mechanics for grouping strangers in the open world reduce friction in multiplayer interactions without compromising the foundational gameplay that made Classic popular.
