Capcom Opens First U.S. Merch Store as a Pop-Up in Los Angeles

Capcom has opened its first retail shop in the United States, bringing Japanese-exclusive merchandise to American gamers. The pop-up store launched on Saturday, September 19, at Little Akihabara in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo neighborhood and will remain open through October 18, operating daily from noon to 7 p.m.

The store offers a curated selection of merchandise featuring Capcom’s most popular franchises, including Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and Mega Man. Available items include plushies, T-shirts, keychains, and other collectibles previously difficult for U.S. fans to obtain. The pop-up mirrors Capcom’s flagship retail location in Tokyo’s PARCO department store in Shibuya, bringing the Japanese gaming retail experience to the West.

To celebrate the opening, Capcom offered special launch promotions. The first 50 customers on September 19 and 20 received limited-edition handkerchiefs featuring popular Capcom game designs from Tokyo Game Show. Attendees also had the opportunity to play the upcoming Mega Man: Dual Override during the launch weekend, with access available to a limited number of visitors.

The one-month duration suggests Capcom is testing consumer interest in direct-to-consumer merchandise sales in the U.S. market, potentially paving the way for expanded retail presence.
