Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s Nintendo Switch 2 Version Delayed to Early 2027

Cold Iron Studios has announced a delay for the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, postponing the release from September 2026 to early 2027. The developer cited the need for additional development time to optimize the game for Nintendo’s new hardware platform and deliver the highest quality experience possible.

In a statement announcing the delay, Cold Iron Studios said: “After careful consideration, we now plan to release it natively on Switch 2 in early 2027. This extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware.”

The four-player cooperative PvE sequel, which has already launched on other platforms, becomes the second major third-party title to delay its Switch 2 release, following a similar announcement from IO Interactive. This pattern suggests that developers continue to face optimization challenges when adapting games to new hardware platforms.

Despite the setback on Switch 2, Cold Iron Studios emphasized its ongoing commitment to refining the game across all platforms. The studio stated that its team remains “aggressively focused on tuning Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 to be the best possible experience for every player,” indicating that development efforts are continuing on multiple fronts.
