Diablo IV’s 30th Anniversary Diablo Celebrations Get Off To A Bumpy Start

Diablo IV’s 30th Anniversary celebration launch has experienced a rocky start, with multiple technical issues affecting players. The celebration coincides with the release of Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection on Nintendo Switch 2 and the launch of Season 15 (Season of Hell’s Legacy).

The rollout has been plagued by server stability issues, with players experiencing login failures and difficulty accessing the game and new seasonal content. Blizzard acknowledged the widespread problems and deployed a hotfix to resolve the most severe issues, noting in a forum post that they “appreciate your patience.”

A significant setback came when Blizzard discovered a critical bug affecting the Rebirth feature, which was allowing characters to carry gold, skills, and points from the Eternal Realm into the Seasonal Realm—creating an unintended advantage. This discovery prompted a temporary delay to Season 15’s launch, with Blizzard providing no estimated restart time at the time of reporting.

Season 15 (Season of Hell’s Legacy) introduces new gameplay focused on collecting unique items called Soul Splinters and uncovering forgotten treasures from earlier games in the Diablo franchise. Players will face new challenges including the Death Cult and combat against Ruptures appearing across Sanctuary, marking a shift from the previous season’s focus.

The troubled launch highlights the challenges of coordinating a major seasonal update across multiple platforms simultaneously, particularly with the addition of the new Switch 2 port. Blizzard has committed to resolving the remaining issues to ensure players can experience the anniversary celebration as intended.
