Harry Potter TV Series Casts Arthur Weasley, Moaning Myrtle and Colin Creevey

HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series has cast actor Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, the good-natured patriarch of the Weasley family who appears throughout the Harry Potter books starting with the second installment. Spall is currently known for his role in Apple TV’s Trying and has previously appeared in films including Life of Pi, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Men in Black: International, and the series Black Mirror. In the original film adaptations, Arthur Weasley was portrayed by Mark Williams.

Arthur is a significant recurring character whose love of Muggle objects drives key plot points in the series, most notably enabling Harry and Ron’s arrival at Hogwarts via an enchanted Ford Anglia. In later books, his position at the Ministry of Magic provides Harry insight into the wizarding government’s operations. The casting announcement also notes that roles for Moaning Myrtle and Colin Creevey have been filled, though actor details were not disclosed in this report.
