Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance takes cues from Onimusha to turn the Longsword into an unstoppable monster in the final weapons showcase trailer

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance has concluded its weapon showcase series with a new trailer focusing on the Longsword, one of the franchise’s most popular and dominant weapon types since Monster Hunter World. The Longsword is known for its high damage output and versatile counter mechanics that significantly aid players during boss encounters.

In Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the Longsword receives substantial enhancements through the new Boost Bracer accessory. This addition grants the weapon multiple new moves, speed buffs, and additional attack options. A key new feature is the Boost Driver attack, which allows players to sheathe their weapon and move freely across the battlefield before executing an offset counterattack. Following a successful topple of an attacking monster, players can unleash a devastating slash attack. The weapon’s design draws inspiration from the Onimusha franchise, incorporating samurai-style combat dynamics into the Longsword’s arsenal and further elevating its combat potential.
