‘Hytale’’s Pokémon MMO Is the Most Bonkers Mod of 2026
A modder has created an impressive multiplayer Pokémon fan project within Hytale, demonstrating the game’s potential for ambitious mod development. The project, called PokeWorlds Online, transforms Hytale’s first-person, Minecraft-style gameplay into something that closely resembles Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the classic Game Boy Advance titles from the early 2000s.
According to a video demonstration posted on X, the mod successfully recreates core Pokémon mechanics including Pokémon storage boxes, item management, character stats pages, and turn-based battles. Players can encounter Pokémon in tall grass and engage in battles that visually mirror the original games. The implementation is particularly impressive given that it operates within Hytale’s base framework, which is designed as a first-person sandbox game by default.
The stated goal of the PokeWorlds Online server is to create a fully multiplayer Pokémon experience, going beyond single-player recreations. This project showcases both the modding community’s creativity and Hytale’s flexibility as a platform for creating entirely different game genres and experiences.
