Resident Evil Director On Who Should Play Lady Dimitrescu In A Resident Evil Village Movie
Director Zach Cregger, whose new Resident Evil movie recently premiered in theaters, has shared his dream casting for a potential live-action adaptation of one of gaming’s most iconic characters: Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village.
When asked by Pedestrian TV who he would cast to bring the tall, aristocratic vampire to the screen, Cregger immediately suggested actress Christina Hendricks. “That feels about right to me,” he explained, indicating the choice felt natural and fitting for the character.
Lady Dimitrescu became one of the standout characters from Capcom’s 2021 title Resident Evil Village, captivating audiences with her distinctive design. The character was inspired by classic gothic figures, particularly Morticia Addams, and embodies a sophisticated yet sinister aesthetic. Capcom’s design philosophy intentionally steered away from a typical gothic vampire look, instead creating something uniquely menacing and memorable.
Hendricks is best known for her acclaimed role as Joan Holloway on AMC’s Emmy-winning series Mad Men, for which she received multiple Primetime Emmy nominations. Her combination of elegance, presence, and ability to portray complex, authoritative characters makes her a compelling choice for the role.
It’s worth noting that Lady Dimitrescu does not appear in Cregger’s current Resident Evil film, which tells an original story separate from the games’ narrative. As a self-proclaimed Resident Evil enthusiast, however, Cregger has clearly given thought to how the franchise’s beloved characters might translate to the big screen, should future adaptations explore other game storylines.
