Shinji Mikami to join AIAS Hall of Fame at 2026 DICE Awards
Shinji Mikami, the renowned video game developer and creator of the Resident Evil franchise, has been announced as the 2027 recipient of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) Hall of Fame Award. The honor will be presented at the 30th Annual DICE Awards ceremony on February 18, 2027.
Mikami brings over 30 years of industry experience to his current role as creative director and CEO of Unbound Inc. Throughout his prolific career, he has created several landmark gaming franchises including Devil May Cry, The Evil Within, Hi-Fi Rush, and Ghostwire: Tokyo, establishing himself as a foundational figure in modern game development.
The award will be presented by Goichi Suda, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture and better known as SUDA51. The two developers are close collaborators who previously worked together on notable titles Killer7 and Shadows of the Damned. In his statement, Suda reflected on Mikami’s mentorship, describing him as an “Obi-Wan Kenobi” figure who shaped his approach to game design and direction.
AIAS president Meggan Scavio characterized Mikami as “a monumental and influential figure for both fans and developers alike,” emphasizing his commitment to fostering creative environments and mentoring the next generation of developers. The Hall of Fame Award recognizes his lasting impact on the video game industry and significant contributions over his three-decade career.
