Chadley Is Back For Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Whether You Like It Or Not

Chadley, a supporting character from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, is confirmed to return in the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final chapter of Square Enix’s remake trilogy. The character’s presence will expand beyond his previous role, with game director Naoki Hamaguchi revealing that Chadley will have his own dedicated space aboard the Highwind airship, serving as his laboratory where he conducts research.

The announcement may spark mixed reactions among fans. In Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Chadley served as a valued resource for obtaining powerful Summons. However, his role expanded significantly in the sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, where players found his constant presence throughout open-world activities—particularly through the omnipresent “CHAD Module”—to be intrusive. Many players felt the character appeared too frequently and detracted from their experience.

Despite community sentiment, Square Enix has committed to giving Chadley a more prominent place in the trilogy’s conclusion. Rather than relegating him to the sidelines, Hamaguchi’s comments suggest the character will play a substantive role in the game’s narrative. His personal laboratory on the Highwind will serve as both a gameplay hub and story-relevant location.

This decision reflects Square Enix’s vision for how various characters and gameplay systems evolve throughout the remake trilogy. Whether Chadley’s expanded presence will be welcomed or viewed as another instance of excessive character focus remains to be seen when Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches.
