Nex Playground maker secures over $150 million to expand globally

Nex, the maker of Nex Playground, has secured over $150 million in equity and debt financing to accelerate its global expansion. The controller-free, active play gaming console has already achieved significant market success, selling over 1 million units worldwide and notably outselling the Xbox Series X|S in the United States during the 2025 holiday season.

The Series E funding round was co-led by investment firms Baillie Gifford and BAI Capital, with additional participation from NBA Investments, Logitech, Medici Capital Partners, and the Raine Group. The company has also strengthened its leadership team, bringing on Jeff Shouger, former CFO of Niantic, and veteran gaming and technology executive Bing Gordon.

Nex Playground’s growth trajectory extends beyond hardware sales. The company’s subscriber base has expanded sevenfold over the past 18 months and is approaching 1 million active subscribers, with expectations to surpass this milestone by the end of 2026.

Currently available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and Germany, Nex Playground aims to bring its active play experience to millions more families worldwide. The capital injection will support the company’s expansion into additional international markets as it continues to gain market share in the gaming hardware space.
