PlayStation 5’s latest firmware update takes Community Activity out of beta, but it’s missing a key feature
Sony has released PlayStation 5 firmware version 26.06-14.00.00, officially launching the Community Activity widget to all PS5 players after approximately one month of testing. The feature, which can be added to the console’s Welcome Hub, provides players with insights into trending multiplayer games and modes across the PlayStation network.
Community Activity offers two primary views. Trending Now displays a list of ten multiplayer games or multiplayer modes that are gaining popularity across PlayStation, allowing players to discover emerging titles and community trends. The Top 10 view provides an alternative perspective on the most-engaged content within the ecosystem.
While Community Activity was not included in the initial firmware beta period, Sony had been testing the feature since May, indicating an extended development cycle before its public debut. The August beta testing phase allowed the company to refine the experience and gather user feedback before rolling it out to the broader player base.
The Community Activity widget serves as a social discovery tool, helping PS5 players stay informed about what others in the community are playing. By highlighting trending multiplayer content, it encourages players to explore new games and engage with popular gaming trends within the PlayStation ecosystem.
