Roblox Movie 99 Nights In The Forest Brings On Oscar-Winning Toy Story 4 Director
20th Century Studios has hired acclaimed filmmaker Josh Cooley to write the screenplay for an upcoming feature film adaptation of 99 Nights in the Forest, a popular survival-horror game on the Roblox platform. Cooley is best known for directing Pixar’s Oscar-winning Toy Story 4 and received an Academy Award nomination for Inside Out. He has also directed Transformers One.
99 Nights in the Forest was developed by Grandma’s Favourite Games and remains one of Roblox’s most-played titles, currently attracting nearly 150,000 concurrent players. The game’s survival-horror gameplay has resonated strongly with players on the platform.
20th Century Studios, owned by Disney, acquired the film rights to 99 Nights in the Forest earlier this year. The studio’s hiring of Cooley signals confidence in adapting the game’s premise for theatrical release. This continues the trend of major studios acquiring rights to popular gaming properties for film and television adaptation.
