Valheim devs finally get around to reading 5 years of player feedback, let you remap dodge key

After five years in early access, Valheim developers have finally implemented one of the most frequently requested features: the ability to remap the dodge key to a single button or key press. Dodging is a critical combat mechanic in Valheim, essential for surviving encounters with dangerous enemies like trolls, ice-spitting dragons, and fire-breathing skeletal demigods. Previously, players were forced to use complex button combinations that made quick dodging difficult. On keyboard, executing a dodge required simultaneously pressing block (mouse 2), jump (spacebar), and a movement direction (WASD). Controller players faced similarly convoluted inputs requiring stick and button combinations. The inability to bind dodge to a single key represented a significant quality-of-life gap for many players, particularly those who preferred streamlined control schemes or had accessibility needs. This long-awaited update demonstrates how persistent player feedback can drive meaningful improvements to core mechanics, even after years of unchanged controls. The change comes as Valheim continues its extended early access period, during which it has already achieved substantial success and built a dedicated global playerbase.
