Wardogs has already made more money than Marathon, and its Steam launch momentum is ahead of Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2

Wardogs has emerged as one of 2025’s biggest PC gaming hits on Steam, significantly outpacing other major launches in both sales momentum and revenue. According to data from analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, the game has sold over 2.2 million copies since its Steam debut. Notably, this rapid adoption occurred immediately after release, with the game surpassing 1 million sales within hours of launch.

When comparing launch-period performance across similar titles, Wardogs demonstrates clear commercial dominance. Arc Raiders achieved 1.7 million sales during its equivalent launch window, while Helldivers 2 reached 1 million—both substantially lower than Wardogs’ 2.2 million figure. The game has also already generated more total revenue than Marathon, a recently launched competitor that has underperformed commercially.

The trajectory of Wardogs’ launch stands in stark contrast to several other recent live-service releases, highlighting both strong player interest and effective market positioning. However, industry observers remain cautious about the game’s long-term viability, questioning whether Wardogs can sustain its impressive launch momentum as the initial player surge subsides and competition intensifies.
