Dragon’s Dogma 2 On Switch 2 Uses Frame Generation
Capcom has revealed performance specifications for Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Nintendo Switch 2, launching in October. In an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu, game producer Naoto Oyama disclosed that the Switch 2 version will target 30 frames per second natively while employing frame generation technology to deliver the visual smoothness equivalent of 60fps.
Frame generation is an advanced rendering technique that synthetically creates intermediate frames between traditionally rendered frames, producing smoother motion on lower-performance hardware. This approach allows demanding titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2 to maintain visual fidelity and consistent performance on the Switch 2 without requiring the full computational overhead of native 60fps rendering.
The announcement demonstrates Capcom’s ongoing commitment to Nintendo’s latest console hardware. Since the Switch 2’s June 2026 launch, Capcom has maintained a steady release pipeline for the platform, signaling continued publisher confidence in the console’s market position and capabilities. Frame generation technology represents an increasingly common strategy in the industry for bridging the performance gap between cutting-edge game engines and current-generation console limitations.
