The New Fire Emblem Lets You Skip A Massive Chunk Of Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is a sprawling RPG that can exceed 100 hours of gameplay, but players have discovered surprising flexibility in how much of the game they actually need to complete.
The game features four separate story arcs, each centered on a different protagonist called the Flame Lords: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. Players can tackle these campaigns in any order they choose, with each individual route lasting approximately 10-20 hours and providing its own narrative resolution.
A major discovery is that players can skip the entire War Arc (Act 2) by interacting with the Strife Obelisk that appears after completing Act 1 as any Flame Lord. Alternatively, players can bypass the obelisk entirely and proceed directly to the final campaign against Balor. However, skipping this content means units from previous routes won’t carry over to the endgame.
While it’s technically possible to complete the entire game with just a single route, players are strongly advised against this approach. Completing at least two routes before the final campaign is recommended, as it provides access to more recruitable characters, additional funding, and increased renown—resources that prove valuable in the final battle. Subsequent routes are also faster and less grueling than the initial playthrough.
For first-time players, skipping content is explicitly discouraged, as it undermines the intended experience. The flexibility exists primarily for players who have already completed their initial playthrough and are considering their options for subsequent campaigns. This design gives players meaningful control over their journey through the game while still maintaining a clear optimal progression path for those seeking the full experience.
