FunnyPlaying, the Chinese hardware company known for Game Boy and GBA upgrade kits, has unveiled the FPGB Mini, a compact handheld device designed to play original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges as well as ROM files. The device represents a more affordable alternative to the Analogue Pocket, another popular cartridge-compatible handheld, with a significantly lower price point.
The FPGB Mini’s primary appeal lies in its exceptionally compact form factor—the handheld is only slightly wider than a Game Boy cartridge itself, making it highly portable. However, it offers more limited cartridge compatibility than the Analogue Pocket, supporting only Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles rather than also accommodating Game Boy Advance and Sega Game Gear cartridges.
Pricing represents the FPGB Mini’s strongest advantage. Following recent price increases, the Analogue Pocket now costs $239.99, while the FPGB Mini is offered at a significantly lower price point.
