Unbiased Monster Hunter producer predicts one weapon will climb the popularity rankings in Ascendance, has no agenda: ‘Hammer should definitely go up a place or two’
Capcom has been gradually revealing details about the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion through a series of weapon breakdown videos released over the past two weeks. The centerpiece of these updates is the new Boost Bracer mechanic, which functions as an enhancement system allowing hunters to amplify their combat actions with increased speed and impact. Beyond simple stat boosts, the Boost Bracer also introduces entirely new, visually flashy attacks to each weapon’s existing moveset, adding depth and variety to combat encounters.
PC Gamer spoke with key Monster Hunter developers at Tokyo Game Show to discuss the broader implications of these changes. The developers elaborated on how the Boost Bracer is designed to evolve Monster Hunter’s combat flow and pacing. In particular, one Monster Hunter producer made a prediction about weapon popularity shifts following the Ascendance release, specifically forecasting that the Hammer weapon category would see increased adoption among players. The producer attributed this projected rise to the Hammer’s new moves introduced through the Boost Bracer system.
