PIO: A Robot’s Story is a Retro-Futuristic Soulslite with a Powerful Story

Black Caviar Games unveiled PIO: A Robot’s Story at Tokyo Game Show, presenting an intriguing title in the retro-futuristic soulslite genre. The game centers on Kir, a young inventor character with a mischievous streak and a personality compared to a child version of Tony Stark, who embarks on a dangerous mission to locate and rescue his kidnapped father.

The narrative unfolds within a retro-futuristic interpretation of Moscow, a setting that establishes the game’s distinctive visual aesthetic and world design. However, studio CEO Ivan Kuznetsov revealed during the showcase that the game’s ambitions extend considerably beyond Moscow’s boundaries, suggesting a larger world and narrative scope than the opening location alone would indicate.

The developers at Black Caviar Games are planning to release a playable demo later in the year, giving players an opportunity to experience the game’s soulslite gameplay mechanics and retro-futuristic atmosphere firsthand. Following its Tokyo Game Show presentation, the game has attracted the attention of gaming media and enthusiasts, with several outlets expressing enthusiasm about its potential and adding it to their lists of upcoming titles to watch.
