Rocket League’s Unreal Engine 6 Era Begins in 2027

Rocket League is officially transitioning to Unreal Engine 6, with the new version launching in 2027. The announcement was made during the final day of the 2026 RLCS World Championship, marking a significant milestone for the competitive esports title. Originally developed on Unreal Engine 3, the move to UE6 represents a major technical and graphical upgrade for the long-running vehicular soccer game.

Psyonix, the developer behind Rocket League, first announced the engine transition in May. Since then, the studio has been actively involving the professional community in the development process. Top-tier players including JSTN and GARRETTG have been invited to test the new version and provide feedback to help shape the game’s next era.

The testing phase is set to continue over the coming months, with professional players receiving ongoing invitations to participate in development and refinement. This collaborative approach suggests that Psyonix is prioritizing competitive integrity and balance as it prepares the UE6 version for launch. The Unreal Engine 6 upgrade is expected to bring improved graphics, performance optimizations, and potentially new features leveraging the latest engine capabilities.
