Stronghold 4 boasts castles aplenty and a rogue’s gallery of weirdos to pit them against

Stronghold 4, the long-awaited sequel to the castle simulation series, has been announced with a 2026 release date. The game marks a significant milestone for the franchise, arriving 15 years after Stronghold 3.

The game returns to core Stronghold gameplay: placing players in dual roles as both fortress defenders and military attackers in medieval siege scenarios. Players will design and fortify castles while preparing to repel invading forces, or orchestrate attacks against enemy strongholds. The title features what the developers describe as “a rogue’s gallery of weirdos”—unique enemy types and adversaries that will challenge players’ siege strategies.

Stronghold 4 was recently showcased at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, providing fans and media their first detailed look at the upcoming entry. The game is confirmed to launch on PC via Steam in 2026.

The announcement provides welcome news for fans of castle-building and strategy games, as the numbered Stronghold series has remained dormant for over a decade. The new entry aims to bring classic siege warfare and castle management mechanics to modern audiences while expanding the variety of challenges and opponents players will face.
