Wit Studio President George Wada Is Ready to Bring One Piece to a New Generation
Wit Studio, the Japanese animation studio behind acclaimed series such as Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and Spy x Family, is undertaking an ambitious new project: creating a condensed anime adaptation of One Piece.
The original manga has published over 1,190 chapters and is supported by an ongoing anime series from Toei Animation with more than 1,170 episodes. With such an expansive catalog spanning nearly a thousand years of in-universe history across hundreds of characters and locations, the series presents a significant barrier to entry for new audiences attempting to catch up.
Wit Studio’s solution is a truncated One Piece anime designed to streamline the narrative and rapidly bring viewers up to speed on essential plot points and world-building. Studio president George Wada is leading this effort to introduce the beloved manga adaptation to a new generation of fans who might be intimidated by the scope of the existing Toei series.
