‘I’m Still Low-Key Angry’: Marvel Agents of SHIELD Star Says ‘Real Followers Will Understand’ Her Frustration the Series Isn’t MCU Canon

Chloe Bennet, who starred as Daisy Johnson/Skye/Quake throughout all seven seasons of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (2013–2020), has expressed ongoing frustration over the series’ ambiguous canonical status within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ABC show began as a direct spinoff of The Avengers, featuring Agent Phil Coulson, but gradually diverged from MCU films over its run, creating uncertainty about whether it remains part of official continuity.

Bennet stated she’s “still low-key angry” about the situation, saying that “real followers will understand” her frustration. The controversy intensified when Disney+ excluded Agents of SHIELD from its “MCU Complete Timeline” section, which lists all canonical Marvel movies and television projects. This exclusion has fueled ongoing debate within the fan community regarding the show’s place in MCU continuity.

Despite her frustration with the canon debate, Bennet indicated she would be willing to reprise her role as Quake if Marvel Studios approached her for future projects. The canonical status of Agents of SHIELD remains contentious, with the network show existing in a gray area between clear MCU inclusion and complete separation from the broader universe established in the films.
