Northern Forge Studios and Runaway Play lead Green Games Jam Awards 2026
The 2026 Green Games Jam Awards, hosted by Playing for the Planet, celebrated developers championing sustainable game development and environmental storytelling at a ceremony held at BFI Southbank. The event presented eleven awards recognising achievements in these critical areas.
Northern Forge Studios emerged as a leading recipient, securing two awards for Orna: The GPS RPG, taking home both the Best Small Studio award and UNEP’s Choice. This dual recognition highlights the studio’s commitment to combining gameplay innovation with environmental consciousness in mobile gaming.
Runaway Play similarly received two accolades, earning Best Storytelling for Flutter: Butterfly Sanctuary and Google’s Choice for Splash – Fish Aquarium. These awards acknowledge the studio’s success in crafting engaging environmental narratives within their titles.
Beyond the primary awards, CD Projekt Red received the Changemaker accolade, recognising significant contributions to environmental consciousness in game development. Ustwo’s CEO Maria Sayans was honoured with the Champion award, highlighting leadership within the industry on sustainability matters.
The awards represent the gaming industry’s growing focus on environmental responsibility and the medium’s potential for environmental storytelling and education.
