Vita Mahjong, Amaze Go and Meowdoku maker Oakever Games fights cloning accusations
Mobile game developer Oakever Games is facing multiple copyright infringement lawsuits, with the studio having already lost one case against Block Blast developer Hungry Studio and currently defending against another suit filed by Avia Games.
Oakever Games—which operates under the trade names Learnings and Vita Studio—has developed numerous successful mobile titles including Vita Mahjong, Amaze Go, Meowdoku, Paint By Number, Tile Explorer, Jigsawscapes, and Zen Word. The company was founded in February 2016 as Lexin Shengwen by cofounders Liu Yiwei and Li Zhong, who previously collaborated at Google China where Yiwei managed AdMob operations. The studio has grown to approximately 200-300 employees.
The cloning accusations represent a significant challenge for the publisher, particularly following the legal defeat to Hungry Studio. The ongoing dispute with Avia Games suggests potential broader concerns about design originality within Oakever’s portfolio, though specific allegations remain undisclosed in available reporting.
