Windows 11 will soon reduce glare on your screen without ruining your photos or videos

Windows 11 is receiving a significant update to its Magnifier accessibility feature with a new contrast theme toggle designed to reduce screen glare while preserving media quality. Unlike traditional color inversion, which affects all on-screen content including photos and videos, the contrast theme selectively darkens the Windows interface while maintaining the original colors of media files.

Microsoft is currently testing four distinct contrast themes: Aquatic, Desert, Dusk, and Night sky. Each offers a different visual aesthetic while delivering the core functionality of improving interface contrast and reducing glare for users with visual sensitivities.

The update demonstrates Microsoft’s continued investment in accessibility features for Windows 11, allowing users to customize their experience based on their visual needs without sacrificing media content quality—a common frustration with standard color inversion tools. This targeted approach should benefit users who experience eye strain during extended computer sessions.
