Two Near-Perfect Lord of the Rings Games Finally Come to Switch 2
Aspyr announced that the Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle—featuring both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War—will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30. The release brings two critically acclaimed action-adventure titles from the previous decade to Nintendo’s new console for the first time, expanding the platform’s library with beloved fantasy games known for their innovative nemesis system and engaging combat mechanics.
The announcement arrives amid a broader resurgence of Lord of the Rings content across entertainment. Multiple major LOTR projects are currently in development, including the film The Hunt for Gollum, the expanding The Rings of Power television series, and another theatrical Lord of the Rings film featuring Stephen Colbert with Peter Jackson attached. Additionally, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North recently returned to modern gaming platforms, signaling renewed industry interest in Middle-earth experiences.
By bringing the Shadow games to Switch 2, Aspyr is capitalizing on this momentum while providing Nintendo players their first opportunity to experience these acclaimed titles on a portable console. The ports represent an effort to preserve classic gaming experiences while introducing them to new audiences through modernized hardware releases.
