Baldur’s Gate 3 Just Got a New Region With 30+ Fights And 70+ Items
Baldur’s Gate 3’s Act 2 has been a divisive point among players since launch. While some appreciate its focused, atmospheric design compared to the sprawling Act 3, others criticize it for being overly linear with limited exploration opportunities compared to Act 1’s open-ended structure. A community mod called Act Two Expansion, developed by modder SquallyDaBeanz over nearly two years, aims to address these concerns by introducing the Chionthar Wilds—a substantial new region nestled between the Shadow-Cursed Lands and Baldur’s Gate city proper.
The expansion adds meaningful content through over 30 combat encounters and more than 70 unique items for players to discover, transforming the previously constrained Act 2 segment into a more exploration-focused experience. By filling the gap between two major story beats with an open area reminiscent of Act 1’s design philosophy, the mod provides players seeking additional wandering and discovery with an alternative way to experience this chapter of the game.
