Control’s Story And Lore Gets Weird, So Here’s What You Need To Know Before Control Resonant

Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant, the sequel to 2019’s Control, is a character action game featuring gravity manipulation mechanics set in a warped version of Manhattan. Players reprise their role as Jesse Faden, continuing her involvement with the Federal Bureau of Control—a government agency tasked with containing paranormal phenomena. The game’s gameplay combines physics-based puzzle-solving with exploration of surreal environments, offering an experience reviewers compare to the visual disorientation of Inception and House of Leaves merged with the inventive platforming of Super Mario Galaxy.

The game performs adequately on standard PC hardware, with Steam’s Steam Machine proving capable of handling the demanding paranormal visuals and mechanics. However, a significant disappointment has emerged: Steam Deck support has failed to materialize despite prior promises from Remedy. While the developer had previously indicated plans to bring the game to Valve’s handheld device, the computational demands of rendering the game’s warped environments exceed Steam Deck’s hardware capabilities. As of launch, the game lacks any public SteamOS hardware compatibility rating.

Despite the Steam Deck setback, critics highlight Remedy’s distinctive approach to game design, noting the studio’s ability to expand its creative ambitions while maintaining its signature visual identity.
