Dark Souls 2 seamless co-op mod is out now in alpha form, paving the way for more boss battering with mates

Dark Souls 2 now has a seamless co-op mod in alpha release, enabling up to five players to experience the entire game together without restrictions. Created by modder Yui—who has previously developed popular multiplayer mods for Elden Ring, Nightreign, and the original Dark Souls—the mod represents over a year of dedicated development work.

The modification allows players to progress through Dark Souls 2 cooperatively from the opening tutorial through the final boss encounter in a single extended session. According to the mod’s description on Nexus Mods, it removes all typical multiplayer limitations, providing seamless integration and access throughout the game world. This represents a significant expansion of the game’s vanilla cooperative features.

The alpha release addresses a long-standing request from the Dark Souls 2 community for deeper multiplayer integration. Yui’s previous work on similar mods demonstrates strong community demand for enhanced co-op experiences in FromSoftware titles. With support for up to five concurrent players, the mod substantially exceeds the vanilla game’s limited summon-based multiplayer system, enabling players to tackle challenging boss encounters and explore collaboratively.
