Ed Boon Says Injustice 3 Testing Rumors Are False

Ed Boon, co-creator of the Injustice and Mortal Kombat franchises and Chief Creative Officer at NetherRealm Studios, has publicly debunked recent rumors surrounding Injustice 3. Following speculation that a major AAA fighting game undergoing playtesting in California was Injustice 3, Boon took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that these testing rumors are entirely false.

In his statement, Boon also addressed a separate claim that NetherRealm Studios was partnering with Insomniac Games to develop what was being called the first ‘AAAA fighting game.’ He firmly denied this partnership, stating it was ‘100% false.’

However, Boon’s denial of the testing rumors does not extend to dismissing the possibility that Injustice 3 is in active development. His clarification focused specifically on refuting the claim that the game has entered testing phases, leaving open the question of whether the title is being worked on behind the scenes. This measured response from a key creative figure at NetherRealm suggests the studio may be working on future projects without having reached public testing phases yet.
