OneState maker ChillBase is quietly making millions by meeting the demand for GTA-likes

ChillBase, founded in 2020 by Matvei Lipatnikov and headquartered in Cyprus, has built a highly profitable mobile gaming business with OneState, a GTA-like open-world crime roleplaying game. Since launching in April 2022, OneState has generated $85.6 million in in-app purchase revenue from 62.3 million downloads, according to AppMagic estimates, while currently earning over $5 million monthly. Lipatnikov confirmed additional revenue streams through a web store, bringing total earnings even higher.

The developer expressed surprise at how few mobile studios have capitalized on the demand for open-world crime games, a genre that dominates console and PC gaming but remains relatively underserved on mobile platforms. As the industry anticipates Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 launch, OneState’s sustained financial performance demonstrates substantial player appetite for GTA-inspired experiences on mobile devices.

The game’s success highlights an overlooked market opportunity in mobile gaming. With robust monthly revenue and tens of millions of downloads, OneState exemplifies how well-executed mobile titles can generate comparable earnings to major console releases, despite the mobile market’s reputation for oversaturation.
