‘This Has to Be a Sick Joke’ — the Next Ace Attorney Game Is a VR Exclusive and Fans Can’t Quite Believe It

Capcom has announced Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies VR, a virtual reality adaptation of the 2013 Dual Destinies game. The exclusive will launch in 2027 on Meta VR platforms including Meta VR Glasses, Meta Quest 3/3S, Quest Pro, and Quest 2. The announcement was made at Meta Connect 2026.

The revelation has proven deeply disappointing to fans of the long-running courtroom adventure series, who have been anticipating news of Ace Attorney 7—a brand new mainline entry. The franchise’s last original release was The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve in 2017, creating a nine-year drought of new content. While VR adaptations could theoretically enhance investigation gameplay with greater immersion, Capcom’s choice to revive an existing game rather than develop a new sequel has frustrated the community.

Fans have expressed displeasure, with some noting the decision feels tone-deaf given the extended silence surrounding the series’ future. The VR port announcement arrived during a period when the franchise has generated minimal news, making the reveal feel more like a placeholder than the substantial update the fan base was hoping for.
