Alienware is working on a fix for the one thing that stops its new 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor from being perfect
Alienware is developing a fix for the Alienware AW3926QW, its 39-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, to address an edge dimming issue that prevented the device from receiving an unambiguous endorsement.
The AW3926QW is a high-end gaming monitor featuring a 5K2K resolution OLED panel with pixel density equivalent to a 32-inch 4K display. It incorporates LG’s latest Tandem WOLED panel technology, complete with RGB-stripe subpixels for enhanced color accuracy. Priced at approximately $1,100, it offers exceptional value for its specifications.
Despite its overall excellence, the monitor had one significant flaw: the edges of the panel gradually dimmed during gaming sessions. This performance issue was notable enough to prevent reviewers from giving the monitor a complete endorsement, despite its otherwise outstanding capabilities.
Alienware has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution to address the dimming behavior. The upcoming fix could remove the final barrier to the AW3926QW becoming the ideal gaming monitor for competitive gamers and content creators.
With its combination of high resolution, OLED technology, exceptional pixel density, and competitive pricing, the monitor has gained popularity among gaming enthusiasts. Once Alienware resolves the edge dimming issue, the AW3926QW could receive unreserved recommendation from reviewers.
